This beauty is the result of one man's life long
fascination with the wonderful lines of the 59 Impala.
Ron's 59 is brought to you by his wife and upholstery
shop partner Pat. Ron had a chance to realize and enjoy
his dreams before he sadly left us for that car show in
the sky a short time back...
It all started in High School 1961 when he took a ride
with Sonny, a good friend... Saying he would buy his 59
from him someday, time would go by, in the fall of 64
Sonny ordered a new 1964 SS and the spotless red 59 he
had dreamed of was available for purchase. A deal was
set and it was owned, a year later Ron was drafted and
the 59 was parked in Dad's garage until he returned
home. When he returned home, it was driven for about a
year along with his other car, a GTO! He had decided to
marry and something had to give, his future Wife tried
to talk him out it but the dream 59 he had chased, had
to go. After many years had passed, the 59 passion had
never went away...
In 1993, at a "Late Great Chevy" Convention, the desire
to own a 59 blossomed again... publications were scoured
and the perfect dry example with a few Tijuana bullet
holes was located in dry Tucson Arizona... 1,700 miles
later, the dream restoration was started. It sat in the
garage for 3 years while a plan was set and the coins
were in place. In 1996, the complete body off
restoration began with the car finally revealed at the
2002 Chevy Good Times Show in Nashville where it scored
it's first "Late Great Chevy" Gold Award of 996
points in the trailered custom class!!!
In closing, Someone is going to get a true "DREAM CAR" with proven award winning provenance! Don't be shy! This car is absolutely stunning and much better in person... Only 1,370 miles since resto... |
