Whoa Chief... 1948
marked a significant year for Indian as the demise of
the industry began due to an effort to cut costs in the
post World War II economic downturn. This would be the
1st year with a high volume oil pump and the last year
with the desirable non hydraulic spring forks. Equipped
with a 74 cubic inch V Twin engine, hand shift and foot
clutch, one handlebar grip controls the throttle the
other controls the manual spark advance. Capable of 85
miles per hour and up to 100 mph when fully tuned. It is
estimated that there were under 10,000 units were
produced for the 1948 model year...
This
unit is nicely preserved/restored with welcome patina.
Known mechanical restoration, that starts great,
operates as designed and rides very well. Looking for
one that you can ride? This is it... |
