If you are looking for a great looking drop top cruiser,
stop and take a look at this lightly modified beauty
that's sure to please. The 1947 Mercury convertible, as
compared to a Ford Deluxe V8, received substantially
more generous factory trim than it's counterpart and
less than 1/2 of it's original production run (Mercury
10,221 and Ford 22,959). Uniquely rare, fun and very
drivable...
To the casual observer this convert looks to be solid
survivor, which of course it is, with only a few minor
modifications, some would call it a resto-mod. The
exterior remains all stock with a subtle hint of changes
highlighted only by the tastefully fitted restored
vintage Mag wheels. Peering inside, you will find the
same level of stock appearance, from the manual pedals
to the "3 on the tree" column shifter and onto the faux
wood grain dash/garnish...
With a flip of the hood, you begin to see the
difference, sporting a nicely dressed and great running
Ford 260 4bbl V8 with HiPo 289 components that's been
bored and balanced with a mild hydraulic camshaft that's
been hooked to a fully synchronized 3 speed manual
transmission controlled by the factory shift column and
backed up with a Ford "Currie" 8" posi-trac 350 ratio
differential...
Moving inside, the original seat has been mounted on a
six-way power seat frame, all original dash with
rebuilt/recalibrated factory instruments, updated with
"Vintage" Air-Conditioning/Heat, updated in-dash AM/FM
CD 6 disc Stereo...
In closing, a uniquely rare convertible that
runs great with plenty of tastefully placed horsepower
and modern creature comforts, it's a wonderfully solid
